Brakeburn
print designMy first post in a while… I’ve been pretty busy!
Firstly, I graduated in July with a First Class Honours in Printed Textiles (super happy).
Afterwards I did some temporary summer work and was about to do an internship in London when this amazing opportunity came along….
I now work for Brakeburn, a clothing brand situated in the UK. I’m their in-house Assistant Print Designer and I’m really enjoying it! It’s been a great couple of months so far, the highlight so far has been helping out at the photo shoot for their A/W 18 collection last week.
In other news… I’m still finding some time to paint, and considering buying a massive easel so that I can get back to doing some big expressive stuff.
I’m also thinking of creating some funky products, (pillows spring to mind!) from some of the designs I made at uni (watch this space), If anyone would like to buy one of my paintings or would be interested in any of my designs from my website please let me know!
New Designers
BA hons textile designRecently, I was chosen to showcase my most recent collection ‘Favela’ at New Designers 2017 in London at the Business Design Centre. This was an amazing opportunity that enabled me to showcase my work to textile and fashion industries and gain lots of inspiration from other talented designers. I’m looking forward to what could be in store for me in the future.
I am also very happy to announce that I will be graduating with a First Class Honours in Textile Design!
Degree Show
BA hons textile designThe Art and Design Degree show at De Montfort University is well underway! Not long until it’s over though, so make sure you come and see the talent of the amazing designers and artists across the University before this Thursday.
It’s been really exciting for me as I have been able to showcase my collection to textile industries and gain great contacts. Hopefully this will lead to some experience within this industry, helping me to get where I aspire to be!
In other news, I have been selected to showcase my collection at New Designers this year in London! This will be at the Business Design Centre from the 28th to the 1st of July. Very excited about this!
Hand in!
BA hons textile designMy final major project, ‘Favela’, is done! It’s been a long and tiring journey but I’ve enjoyed it so much, and I can’t wait to see what is in store for me in the near future.
After having some well earned rest, my plan is to continue creating designs that excite and encourage me to fulfil my true potential as a Printed Textile Designer.
Final collection coming together
BA hons textile designI photographed some of my final designs today for portfolio use. I used my course mates flat because the Uni was closed (bank holiday), but it actually worked out okay! Thanks Alex! >click here to see her website!<
I’ll be handing in my final collection in about a weeks time… watch this space!
Rapanui Clothing – Work Experience
print designFor two weeks, I was lucky enough to gain some work experience with the award winning and sustainable clothing brand Rapanui. I was appointed to design a collection of flannel shirts and t-shirt patterns for men and women for the upcoming A/W season. This also included sorting colour swatches ready for production.
My designs are set to be for sale on their website later this year!
