Biggest commission yet!

paintings

I finished my biggest commission so far! It’s 1.5m x 1m. I have to admit, I did find it tough finding an easel that would fit this sized canvas. I had to borrow one from my local University as my personal one wasn’t big enough. This painting went through quite a few stages. I changed the centre boat more than once and there are several layers to the landscape. I was working from a photograph, as the client wanted this painting in memory of someone who passed away. You can see the journey of this painting below through photos that I took along the way.

New Designers

BA hons textile design

Recently, I was chosen to showcase my most recent collection ‘Favela’ at New Designers 2017 in London at the  Business Design Centre. This was an amazing opportunity that enabled me to showcase my work to textile and fashion industries and gain lots of inspiration from other talented designers. I’m looking forward to what could be in store for me in the future.

I am also very happy to announce that I will be graduating with a First Class Honours in Textile Design!

Degree Show

The Art and Design Degree show at De Montfort University is well underway! Not long until it’s over though, so make sure you come and see the talent of the amazing designers and artists across the University before this Thursday.

It’s been really exciting for me as I have been able to showcase my collection to textile industries and gain great contacts. Hopefully this will lead to some experience within this industry, helping me to get where I aspire to be!

In other news, I have been selected to showcase my collection at New Designers this year in London! This will be at the Business Design Centre from the 28th to the 1st of July. Very excited about this!

Hand in!

My final major project, ‘Favela’, is done! It’s been a long and tiring journey but I’ve enjoyed it so much, and I can’t wait to see what is in store for me in the near future.

After having some well earned rest, my plan is to continue creating designs that excite and encourage me to fulfil my true potential as a Printed Textile Designer.

Digital prints

Uncategorized

I’ve been combining my big paintings with some of the graphic shapes and text from my paintings of bits of rubbish. These designs work best on silks, and are shown here being digitally printed onto silk satin. Two of them didn’t work out however, as I accidentally back stained them in the washing process… Luckily I managed to save them though by dip dyeing them later on in the day which actually worked out better then I thought!

These designs have also been selected for the photo shoot next Wednesday with photographer Fabrice Lachant who has worked with Vogue, ID and many other high profile clients.

I am super excited about this.

I’ve been using Illustrator and Photoshop to develop some of my paintings of bits of rubbish and recycled items used in slums. They are now much more graphic and iconic. I’m excited to see what these prints will look like once they have been enlarged to A0 size or larger.
