Hello! I think it’s important that we gain inspiration from stuff other than our mobile phones and the internet. In this blog post, I’m going to tell you why nature and in particular, the ocean, inspires my work and what I think is important to a great design or piece of art. Firstly I’d like to talk about the great outdoors and why so much of my work is inspired by the natural world. I have been lucky enough to have lived by the sea for most of my life. I learnt how to surf at a young age and feel comfortable swimming long distances in open water. The sea is a place I can feel truly at one with nature, as to me it is like you are being physically picked up and wrapped up by the elements. I love that the ocean has this crazy energy which if you’re not careful, can catch you out. I feel as though this has influenced my work by making me want to be ambitious and take risks when designing. It’s rewarding exploring new ways to create colour and form. New techniques may not always work the first time but sometimes you might just find that little tweak that makes a graphic or print a whole lot more exciting.
I am currently creating prints and graphics for clients inspired by nature. Please get in touch if you have a business or personal project you need help with. My hourly rates are available to view on the contact and prices tab at the top of my website. You can also hire me through Upwork: https://www.upwork.com/freelancers/~01de51cb4c6c7ddfde.
Have a lovely day!
